Room 202: The Barn Curated by Farmgroup

The room features a special project initiated by Farmgroup in collaboration with 11 Thai artists. Paying tribute to the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s musical talents and passion, each distinguished artist created a vinyl record jacket design based on his or her interpretation of His Majesty’s selected compositions.

The room is rich in exhibits by internationally renowned artist Pomme Chan, but this time it’s not about paintings. Intriguing exhibits include ceramics, decorative objects, and carpets from Pomme Chan’s collections.

Room 207: The C.A.P Studio and Jojo Kobe

Here, C.A.P Studio and Jojo Kobe worked jointly to showcase outstanding works in printmaking and a variety traditional etching and wood block printing techniques ,as well as lithography and screen printing.

Room 301: The Gallery Seescape

The exhibit features a rich combination of works by seven artists from Gallery Seescape, including Tawatchai Puntusawasdi, Anon Pairot, Torlarp Larpjaroensook, Chol Janepraphaphan, Uten Mahamid, Silwataka Ramyananda, and Thepmetha Thepboonta. All of the works on show represent a new creative series.

Room 403: Dr. Apinan Poshyananda

On display here are paintings that Dr. Apinan Poshyananda received from some famous artists. The show sets in motion the Bangkok Art Biennale 2018 (BAB 2018), which is a new contemporary art festival. Dr. Apinan is the CEO and art director of the event, which will be held from November 2018 to February 2019 on various locations around the capital.

Room 404: The Serindia Gallery

The Serindia Gallery, in association with Art for Cancer, a charity project using art and creative ideas to raise funds to help underprivileged cancer patients in Thailand, is showcasing paintings and sculptures by its four female artists. Room 406: The Atta Gallery, and Paw-Dee Lifestyle

The ATTA Gallery, in collaboration with Paw-Dee Lifestyle, a contemporary Thai crafts and lifestyle store, is featuring an intriguing array of works in contemporary jewelry by Japanese artists. Meanwhile, Paw-Dee Lifestyle also makes a prominent exhibition of decorative objects by Thai artists.

Room 407: The H Gallery

The H Gallery features a new series of paintings by five local and regional artists, including Soomboon Hormtientong, Manit Sriwanichpoom, Mit Jai Inn, Jakkai Siributr, and Sopheap Pich. All of the paintings on show are abstract art and being presented through oil, acrylic, and canvas printings.

– MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum, Chiang Mai –

Officially opened in July 2016, the MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum has four exhibition halls, a screening room and indoor/outdoor spaces for show openings and live performances. It was founded by Jean Michel Beurdeley, his late wife Patsri Bunnag and his son Eric Bunnag Booth. MAIIAM sits in a 3,000-square-meter converted warehouse in Chiang Mai’s historic crafts district of Sankampang. It was designed by “allzone,” an architectural firm known for the contextual approach. The museum has the Bunnag-Beurdeley family’s collections on permanent display, which includes seminal works by the masters of Thai contemporary art.

Formerly known as Mon Decor Gallery, ART:1 was founded in 1983 and later grew to become a pioneer in the art gallery business in Jakarta. It won the Favorite Art Gallery of the Year Award in 2010. Over the years, the then Mon Décor Gallery has earned numerous recognitions, including the Favorite Art Gallery in Indonesia Award, and the Purwakalaghra Museum Award for Best Facility. In 2011 Mon Décor reinvented its initial fine art gallery concept and expanded into a private museum, art spaces, and an art institute supporting the art infrastructure of Indonesia. This shift in concept resulted in its moving into a bigger exhibition space in Kemayoran, a sub-district of central Jakarta. Art:1 now has 4,000 square meters featuring original works of art by old and modern masters, as well as contemporary artists, curated over the past 30 years.

Albeit rather small, the Kult Gallery features a bewildering array of works of art that will arouse your curiosity and interest. On learning the news so distressing for the Thai people regarding the passing of His Majesty the King, to honor his memory The office of Contemporary Art and Culture and twenty-nine Thai artists have put on display an exhibition of heartfelt original art in honor of His Majesty: portraits, sculpture, photographs, graphic arts, and other relevant works.

The art exhibition is open daily 10.00 am to 7.00 pm between October 18 and 30, 2016, excepting Mondays and national holidays, on the 1st Floor at the Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center, 84 Ratchadamnoen Avenue, Bangkok, Thailand.

Maiiam / Chiang Mai’s Latest Contemporary Art Museum

Maiiam, the new art museum in San Kamphaeng district, Chiang Mai is officially open. The ground-breaking opening event attracted art lovers and passersby with private art pieces from 30-years of Bunnag-Beurdeley family (the executives of Jim Thompson) artwork collection.

The collection was accentuated by the museum’s giant glass wall reflecting the green area across the road. The two-storey building was designed by Rachaporn Choochuey from all(zone)limited.

On the lower floor situated a hallway dedicated to Jao Jom Iam, the great grandmother of Erik Bunnag Booth and the King Rama V’s concubine. She was the one inspired the creation of this museum, hence, the name “Iam” with the prefix “Mai” (meaning new in Thai).

Alongside Jao Jom Iam history was Maiiam’s first exhibition ‘The Serenity of Madness’, by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, a Thai independent film director and a Palme d’Or winner. The upper level housed various art collections from modern and contemporary Thai artists, i.e. Kamin Lertchaiprasert, Chatchai Puipia, Navin Rawanchaikul, Vasan Sitthiket, Rirkrit Tiravanija and more.

Maiiam regularly seeks interesting art & craft works. Its upcoming exhibition is ‘The Timeless Present Moment’ by Kamin Lertchaiprasert, where audiences are invited to find the meaning and value of present through Kamin selected artworks.

Maiiam Contemporary Art Museum opens every day except Tuesday from 10 am to 6 pm.  Entrance fee is 150 THB per person.
