MY HOME: Outdoor Living Spaces
Green spaces around us are equally important since they provide many environmental and health benefits. They can be anything from a small front yard to large gardens brimming with lush green foliage. Vegetables growing in the backyard offer plenty of materials for home cooking that everyone in the family can enjoy. Decorating with plants is something anyone can do. Even a small condominium unit can benefit from it. Some people are lucky to have a unit with a view, while others are just happy with a container garden on the balcony and along the passageway. After a hard day at work, everybody needs some rest. Even the smallest urban green space can have a big impact on people’s physical and mental health. It provides an opportunity to relax and recharge before returning to work the next day. Nature is all around, and it’s up to us to let it participate in improving our living condition.
MY HOME Magazine encourages you to spend more time outdoors. Create a small green space for yourself. Here are three ideas worth considering.
- Outdoor Chilling: A level paved area next to the building is a good place to hang out and relax. A table and a few seats can be made of reclaimed pallet boards. Give them a layer of protective coating to prevent fungus from growing. Put in some throw pillows and enjoy a good read, or just chill out. It may turn out to be your favorite stargazing location at night. Throw in a few garden props to make the area inviting and party ready. Friends will love it!
- Outdoor Camping: It’s a good idea to take a short trip out of town once in a while. Or if you enjoy driving long distances, a journey to the sea and camping trip to the mountains helps you to relax and get away from your worries. Bring your barbecue supplies. The grill is one of the best tools for making summer dinners. You will fall in love with true nature travels.
- Outdoor Dining: The garden is a great place for social gatherings at night. Put in a long table made of recycled building materials. A reclaimed roofing sheet is good enough for the tabletop, while stackable concrete blocks make for solid table legs. Decorate the surroundings with ping-pong ball lights. It’s an awesome way to add a fun party feel to the area. The backyard is one of the best places to eat alfresco during the cold season.
Garden of Ideas
For the duration of the show, the Baan Lae Suan Group proudly presents a Garden of Ideas in front of Challenger Hall 2. The show garden represents an amalgam of creative ideas from home and garden magazines. For the green thumbs, it’s a good opportunity to keep abreast of what’s trending in decorative plants and the latest in agriculture. The Garden of Ideas comes in six sections.
- The sitting area comes complete with a pantry for storing and making beverages. The design is taken from two publications — “Self-made home” and “Garden & Farm” Vol. 14, which is about growing plants for beverages.
- The workroom is a workspace mockup, whose design is drawn from two books – “100 Things You Need to Know When Owning a Home” and “100 Garden Facts.”
- Garden space is an area dedicated to garden work, whose design is taken from two books – “Mini Garden: Create Your Own Little Green Space” and “Materials for Growing Decorative Plants.”
- Bonsai garden is a show about ornamental trees and shrubs in their miniature forms.
- Garden made for relaxation is a show adapted from two books – “Natural Garden” and “Foliage Plants“.
- Plants you can eat is a show garden adapted from the book “Edible Garden“.
That’s not all. Many people who have appeared in various home and garden publications are opening retail outlets during this year’s Baan Lae Suan Fair. Whether you’re looking for a place to sit back and relax, participate in a workshop, or enjoy a good read, the Garden of Ideas is definitely the best place to be.
