Show Garden Thrives on “Massclusivity”

BAANLAESUAN FAIR

The show garden is based on the “Massclusivity” concept. It’s designed by Panat Sumanroj of the landscape architecture firm Pergola Co, Ltd. To give a sense of community, building materials commonly found in the locality are adapted for use in an exciting new way. It’s the product of a thought process that the designer goes through in arriving at the final outcome. In this exhibition, antique clay bricks known as “It Mon” are used.

The garden design connects with the Thai way that revolves around family life. The healthy pattern of behavior continues to play a significant role as people adjust to the urban lifestyle and facilities. In this design, family values are manifested in the layout of common areas such as dining and living spaces, both of which are set in a semi-outdoor environment like old times. Meantime, garden plants are put in place based on needs, including vegetables, flowers, and blooming species. After all, it’s the sweet smelling floral scents that have great benefits for the environment.

The old-fashioned brick “It Mon” offers many benefits. To focus on the “Massclusivity” concept, the dry process of brick laying is used to produce five decorative designs.

  1. Front and back pattern is ideal for constructing a brick wall that places great emphasis on design. It’s one way of bringing new perspectives and fresh ideas to the job.
  2. One-O-one pattern is a type of masonry that leaves a space between bricks. It’s used to construct perforated building shells for good ventilation.
  3. Floor Pattern is suitable for courtyard floors and outdoor passageways. Brickwork alternating with tiles creates interesting colors and textures.
  4. Wall pattern is about laying bricks inside the steel or wooden frame of a wall. This type of brickwork creates visual design that makes the wall immediately appealing.
  5. Wave pattern comes in handy to make the entranceway a focus of attention. It is evidence of “Massclusivity”, the use of mass-market products infused with prestige elements. In this type of masonry, the bricks in the wall are unevenly spread to create beautiful waveform effects.

Nowadays in this fast-paced world, people feel the quality of being original and unique is very important to them. The passage of time and advancements in technology have an effect on everything, the garden included. Due to lack of time, people have turned to semi-finished or partly finished goods for the materials they need to grow a beautiful garden. They are hungry for new ideas that can answer their specific lifestyle needs. It’s for this reason that eight gardens that recently passed into the final round of the competition are now on display at the 2018 Baan Lae Suan Fair. There are plenty of flexible designs to choose from. Why not drop into the show and take home some great ideas?

While there, become involved by voting for the garden that you like the most. You can either vote via the Baan Lae Suan Magazine website, or vote in person at the Fair for the duration of the show.
